Mr. Alvesta Young of Memorial Drive, South Boston, VA died February 9, 2022 at the age of 74.

Mr. Young was born January 27, 1948 in Halifax County, VA to the late Cecil S. Young, Sr. and Bernice Henderson Young and was married to Lorena Gerst Young. He was first a member of Memorial Baptist Church and later joined Abiding Branch Christian Ministry.

Mr. Young is survived by (3) daughters: Laura Young, Shareon Young, both of South Boston, VA and Monica Young of Washington, DC; (1) son: Alvesta Young, Jr. (Mellissa) of South Boston, VA; (10) grandchildren; (12) great-grandchildren; (1) sister-in-law: Lou Frances Young and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including Pius Gbenoba. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (2) brothers: Cecil S, Young, Jr. and Leo Young. (1) sister: Fredora Morris; (1) grandson: TyShawn R. Funeral services for Mr. Alvesta Young will be held Thursday, February 17th at 1:00 p.m. with services at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Wallace Pierce eulogist. Burial will follow at Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.

A face mask and social distancing is required at the services.
