Ms. Bonnie “Barbara” Coles of Halifax County, VA died on Sunday, March 13th at the age of 88.

Ms. Coles was born on September 26, 1933 in Halifax County, VA to the late Robert Trammell and Bonnie Coles. She was the youngest child in her family. At the age of 16 Bonnie moved to Bronx, New York where she resided for 30 years and then returned to her hometown of Halifax County. For many years she has been one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a member of the Halifax congregation. Bonnie worked for many years and retired from Presto Products in the Riverdale area of Halifax County.

Mrs. Coles is survived by (1) daughter: Bonnie Caldwell of Greensboro, NC; (1) son: Aaron Roberts, II of Halifax VA; (11) grandchildren: Omar Chalmers, Kenya Chalmers, Rayvon Glaze, Gregory Michael Chalmers, William Clark, Aaron Roberts, III, Lorenzo Mitchell, Demetrius Knight, Tanika Chalmers, Tennille Chalmers, Lia Caldwell; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by (3) sons: Johnny Chalmers, Dennis Chalmers, Gregory Chalmers; (1) daughter Sheila Chalmers; (26) siblings of which she was proud to refer to herself as “the baby”. Some of her siblings that have preceded her in death includes,  brothers: Raleigh Cole, Douglas Cole, Holt Cole, Ray Cole and  sisters: Mary Lee Muse, Irene Roberts, Annie Myrtle Coles, and Catherine Reed. 

A memorial service for Ms. Bonnie Coles will be held Wednesday, March 30th at 1 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
