Mr. Calvin Daniel Smith of South Boston, VA passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 4th at the age of 62.

Mr. Smith was born in Halifax County on December 31, 1958 to the late Willie Beatrice “Sue” Noell. He was educated in in the Halifax County Public School System and worked in the textile industry throughout the Virginia and North Carolina areas.

Mr. Smith is survived by (1) son: Damien Barksdale of Richmond, VA; (1) sister: Jacqueline Hemphill of Clinton, MD; (2) brothers: Timothy Noell of Hillsborough, NC and Barry Noell of Brooklyn, NY; (5) grandchildren: Damiecia, Damien Jr., Serenity, Elijah, and Ezekiel; (3) nieces: Paige Hopkins of Largo, MD, Chae Hemphill of Clinton, MD, Channon Hemphill-Morgan (Trevell) of Pikesville, MD and their son, Seth; (1) nephew: Dominick Jones of Raleigh, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his younger sister: Evelyn “Niecey” Noell.

A memorial service for Mr. Calvin Daniel Smith will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Washington Coleman Community Center, 1927 Jeffress Blvd, South Boston, VA 24592.
