Obituary

Mr. Cleophas Green of Dryburg Road, Scottsburg, VA died, Tuesday, February 15th at the age of 72.


Mr. Green was born in Halifax County, VA on August 26, 1949 to the late Paul Green, Sr, and Florence Torain Green and was married to the late Millie Barksdale Green. He was a member of Spanish Grove Baptist Church and a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Green retired from J.P. Stevens after 30 years of employment. After retirement he started his own lawn service.


Mr. Green is survived by (2) sons: Earl Barksdale (Christina) of Grand Haven, MI and Draper Green of Scottsburg, VA; (4) grandchildren; (1) brother: Paul Green, Jr. of Ashland, VA; (1) sister: Marilyn Carden (Windell) of Scottsburg, VA; (3) brothers-in-law; (4) sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including a devoted friend and caregiver; Gracie Flenoury, VA, Wayne Carden, Pamela Powell and Carson Griffin. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by (1) son: Luther Barksdale; and (3) siblings: James Divine Green, Virginia Everly Green McCargo and Annabell Green Cobbs.


Funeral services for Mr. Cleophas Green will be held Friday, February 18th at 1:00 p.m. with services at Spanish Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Womack eulogist. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military rites.


Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.


A face mask and social distancing is required at the services.
