Early Thursday morning, May 6, 2021 God sent His precious angel to call home our beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend Darnell Lee Smith. Darnell was the oldest son of Lawrence Harris and the late Anna Smith.

He was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, educated in the public schools of East Orange, New Jersey and graduated from East Orange High School. Darnell later attended Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey pursuing a degree in English Literature. During his adult life, he worked various jobs and later became a truck driver for Hirschbach Company out of Delaware.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, his sons: Korey Knight and Zayon Smith, both of East Orange, NJ; his only daughter, Eyanna Featherston of Roxboro, NC; his father, Lawrence Harris; two sisters: Charlene Smith of Marietta, GA and Lynnette V. Harris-Elmore (Irvin) of Houston, TX: two brothers: Lawrence Harris, II of Durham, NC and Bennie Harris, Sr.; a special niece, Monaziah Smith; a special great-niece, Milan Smith and a special great-nephew, Mazyi (Bam Bam) Smith, all of Marietta, GA; and seven nieces, four nephews, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Anna Smith; his grandmother, Judy Warren; and his great-grandmother, Hannah Jordan.

Funeral service for Darnell Lee Smith will be Tuesday May 18th at 11 a.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. Public viewing for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service.
