CATHY HART BARKSDALE, MANAGER
Dary LaMonte Edmonds
January 18, 1973 - November 21, 2022
On November 21, 2022, our Lord called home our beloved son, brother, father, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend, Dary LaMonte Edmonds, affectionately known as LaMonte, Twinkie or Money, by family and childhood friends.
LaMonte was born in South Boston, Virginia on January 18, 1973 and was the first son born to James Paul Edmonds and Wanda Coleman Edmonds.
LaMonte accepted Christ at a young age and joined the County Line Missionary Baptist Church in Vernon Hill, Virginia. LaMonte attended the Halifax County Public Schools and graduated from Halifax County Senior High School in June of 1991. In December of 1991, LaMonte joined the U.S. Army, and served his country until December of 1995. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he returned back to his hometown.
LaMonte was a servant. He was always doing something for someone; whether it was washing a car, giving a ride, lending money, or giving clothes to wear; he would always go out of his way to do for someone else. At times, he would even open his home as a house of refuge, to those in need. He loved driving and would drive almost anywhere, at any time for anyone, until he was no longer able. LaMonte loved cars. He would wash them, change oil, tint windows, install speakers and make every car he owned, "his own". He had so many innovative ideas. One of his latest ideas was to give Dodge a design for a future vehicle. LaMonte loved to draw, he loved music (listening to music and making music), and he loved to dance. He was probably one of the best dancers back in those days. Above all else, LaMonte loved and served GOD, and he showed His love for God through helping others.
LaMonte leaves to cherish loving memories (1) son, Derrell LaMonte Edmonds; (1) daughter, Danyelle Lorraine Edmonds; (1) precious granddaughter, Jovi, all of South Boston, Virginia; his parents: Paul and Wanda Edmonds; (1) brother, Jamand: four nephews: Zamir and Zakiyah, both of Richmond, Juel and JaDel, both of South Boston, Virginia; (3)aunts: Pamela Cheek (Charles), Sheila Hoxie, all of Maryland, and Judith Winstead of South Boston, VA; (2) great aunts: Virginia Banks of New Jersey and Pearl Coleman of Maryland; (2) uncles: Jerome Coleman (Megan) of Maryland and Walter Ross of South Boston, VA; (1) great uncle, Inman Thompson (Dorothy) of New Jersey, and a host of other relatives, cousins, friends, god-children, close friends including Detra Brown, and his long time caregiver and friend, Jacklyn Carden.
