Mrs. Dorothy Walton Featherston of Alton, VA died August 29th at South Boston Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 89.

Mrs. Featherston was born in Halifax County, VA on February 12,1933 and was the daughter of the late Joseph Walton and Belle Long Walton. She was married to the late Howard Robert Featherston and was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church.

Mrs. Featherston is survived by (2) daughters: Susie Brown (Howard) of Halifax, VA and Sabriana Featherston of South Boston, VA; (2) sons: Michael Featherston and Reverend Bruce Featherston (Betty), all of Alton, VA; (1) sister: Fannie Medley of Alton, VA; (1) daughter-in-law: Odessa Featherston of South Boston, VA; (9) grandchildren; (13) great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends including a devoted friend and roommate, Mrs. Geraldine Coleman.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Featherston was preceded in death by (1) son, Howard Featherston; and (6) brothers: Bob, William, Tom, Charlie, Edward and Pete Walton.

Graveside services for Mrs. Dorothy Featherston will be Saturday, September 3rd at 11 a.m. at Cross Road Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Bruce Featherston officiating.

The family is receiving friends at the home of Reverend and Mrs. Bruce Featherston, 2020 Alton Post Office Road, Alton, VA.

The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the Hummingbird Lane staff at South Boston Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Public viewing hours for Mrs. Featherston will be Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
