Mrs. Emma Lee Womack Barksdale of Halifax, VA died Thursday, January 27th at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 83.

Mrs. Barksdale was born on September 28, 1938 in Halifax County, VA to the late Johnny Bee Womack and Aline Chandler-Ferrell Womack. She was married to the late Deacon Harvey Lee Barksdale and was a member of New Vernon Baptist Church.

Mrs. Barksdale is survived by (1) daughter: Stacy Barksdale-Coleman (Antwan) of Lawton, OK; (6) sons: Robbin M. Barksdale (Joan) of Danville, VA, Harvey B. Barksdale (Connie) of Greensboro, NC, Alfred C. Barksdale (Preteasta) of Evington, VA, Daniel L. Barksdale of South Boston, VA, Sandy B. Barksdale of Oxford, NC and Johnnie L. Barksdale (Melissa) of Halifax, VA; (9) grandchildren; (6) great grandchildren; (2) sisters: Dorean Irby of Norfolk, VA and Betty Cole of Alexander, VA; (4) brothers: Raleigh Womack and Willie Womack (Bobby), both of Halifax, VA, Shirley Womack (Wilma) of Bristol, VA and Lawrence Womack of Burke, VA; (6) sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Emma was preceded in death by (2) sons: Clinton Barksdale and Samuel Earl Barksdale, Sr.; (1) grandson: Isaiah Barksdale; (2) brothers: Brandon Womack and Herman Womack; (2) sisters: Louise Hartridge and Annie Mae Edmonds.

Graveside services for Mrs. Emma Lee Womack Barksdale will be held Thursday, February 3rd at 1:00 p.m. with services at New Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Elliott officiating.

Public viewing will be at Jeffress Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

A face mask and social distancing will be required at all services and funerals.
