Obituary

Mrs. Fannie R. Glass Stephens of Birch Elmo Road died April 11, 2021 at the age of 86.


Mrs. Stephens was born in Halifax County on March 3, 1935 to the late William H. Glass and Julia Kirby Glass and was married to the late Mr. Patrick Henry Stephens. She was a member of Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church.


Mrs. Stephens is survived by (1) daughter : Doris Williams; a niece and nephew Gayle (Jerry) and Doug of Monroe, VA, that she helped raise; grandchildren: Kelly Johnson (Derrick) of Monroe, VA, and Damich Williams of Orlando, FL; (3) great grandchildren: Shawn, Cameron and Eva Jane; (2) sisters: Hazel Glass and Anna Palmer (Earl); (1) brother: James Williams; (2) sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, including Thelma (Bunny).  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by (5)sisters: Ada, Hattie, Mildred, Marie and Vanessa; and (5) brothers: William, Lacy, Clarence, Luther and Tommy.


Funeral service for Mrs. Fannie R. Glass Stephens will be held Wednesday, April 14th at noon at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax with Rev. Thomas Divens, eulogist. Burial will follow at Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.


Public viewing for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service. Following COVID-19 guidelines, seating will be limited, a face mask and social distancing will be required.
