Mr. George Washington Carter, Jr. of Scottsburg, VA died Wednesday, April 19th at the age of 81.

Mr. Carter was born in Halifax County, VA on July 17, 1941 to the late George Washington Carter, Sr. and Anna Davenport Carter and married Yvonne D. Henderson Carter. At an early age, he joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church and was a United States Army Veteran.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Yvonne Henderson Carter of the home; (2) daughters: Darlene Henderson of Scottsburg, VA and Annie Rita Henderson of Lorton, VA; (1) son: Christopher Henderson of Clarksville, TN; (3) grandchildren; (7) great grandchildren; (1) brother: Thomas Carter (Christine) of Philadelphia, PA; (2) aunts; (1) uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (1) brother: Walter Carter.

Funeral services for Mr. George Washington Carter, Jr will be Friday, April 28th at noon at St. James Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald D. Jeffress, eulogist. Burial will follow in Davenport Family Cemetery with military honors by United States Army and American Legion Post 99.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress funeral Home.
