Mr. George Elmer “Sonny” Harris, III of Scottsburg, VA died on Monday, March 8th in Clarksville, VA at the age of 69.

Mr. Harris was born in South Boston, VA on November 10, 1951 to the late Mr. George E. Harris, Jr. and Mrs. Earnestine Pointer Harris, and was married to Mrs. Gladys Chandler Harris. He was a United States Army Veteran and joined Greater Brandon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.

Mr. George Elmer “Sonny” Harris, III is survived by his wife: Gladys Chandler Harris of the home; his children: Karen (Deron), Lekeisha, Christopher (Phyllis), David (Tracey), Robert (Zelda) and Pamela (Moo); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; (2) sisters: Brenda Harris and Jacklyn Link; (4) brothers: William (Monica), Willie (Sharon), Samuel and Ernest (Bonita); and host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (1) daughter, Tiffany, and a brother, Frank.

Funeral services for Mr. George “Sonny” Harris, III will be Saturday, March 13th at 2 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Galloway eulogist. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, a face mask will be required and the seating capacity will be limited.
