Mr. Harold Eugene Hughes of Virgilina, VA died Tuesday, August 23rd at the age of 75.

Mr. Hughes was born in Halifax County, VA on November 16, 1945 to the late Otis Hughes and Mary Elizabeth Young Hughes and was married to the late Rose Marie Johnson Hughes. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Virgilina, VA, a United States Army Veteran and a member of American Legion Post 99.

Mr. Hughes is survived by (1) daughter: Eugenia Marie Hughes Jones of Virgilina, VA, (1) son: Curtis Lamont Hughes of Virgilina, VA; (6) grandchildren; (4) great grandchildren; (1) brother: Ernest Hughes; (2) sisters: Christine Tuck and Claudine Royster; (1) aunt: Ida Christine Young; (4) sisters-in-law: Lillian Hughes, Vinvina Hughes, Virginia Johnson and Mary Cooper; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends including Steve Holeman, Ann Harris, Artensia Wilkerson and Blake Jones.

Funeral services for Mr. Harold Eugene Hughes will be Wednesday, September 1st at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Virgilina, VA with Rev. Lorenzo Love eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by United States Army Honor Guard and American Legion Post 99.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston, VA.
