Mr. James “Buck” Cardwell of South Boston, VA died on Saturday, February 27th at the age of 54.

Mr. Cardwell was born in Halifax County, VA on April 10, 1966 to the late Mr. Lorenzo Cardwell and Mrs. Ophelia Medley Cardwell and was a member of Williams Temple CME Church.

Mr. Cardwell is survived by (2) brothers: Mr. David L. Medley (Yvonne) and Mr. Willard Cardwell (Jacqueline); (3) sisters: Rev. Shirley Cardwell, Mrs. Brenda C. Spraggins (Michael) and Mrs. Celestine Supthin (Floyd), all of South Boston, VA; devoted nephew: Mr. Michael J. Spraggins; (1) uncle: Mr. Albert Medley, II of Washington, DC; (1) aunt: Ms. Ella M. Medley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Ruth S. Crawley, Willie Mae Ragsdale, Freddie, Thomas, Jerry and Douglas Cardwell.

Graveside services for Mr. James “Buck” Cardwell will be held Thursday, March 4th at 1 p.m. at Williams Temple CME Church Cemetery with Rev. Andre Williams eulogist.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Wednesday, March 3rd from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston, VA. Following COVID-19 guidelines, a face mask and social distancing will be required.
