Mr. Jesse James Oliver, also known as "Big Cat", 63 of Buffalo Junction Virginia passed away February 4, 2023 at his home. 

He was born June 8, 1959 in South Boston, VA to the late Chambers Oliver, Sr. and Eva Richardson Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Oliver Cuffee.

Jesse attended Mecklenburg County Public Schools and received his high school diploma from the former Bluestone Sr. High School. He was employed at Burlington Industries, then Revlon and finally Alsco until the factory closed. He had a business mind; he kept a side hustle.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, fellowship, dogs and farming. If it swam, walked or had feathers, he considered it "dinner." He achieved Lifetime Membership with Mecklenburg County Life Saving and Rescue Squad in Clarksville Virginia by being a volunteer EMT.

He is survived by his sister, Wilma Oliver of Durham, NC; his brother, Chambers Oliver, Jr. of Durham, NC; Mary's three daughters: Sherri Watson of Durham, NC, Shana Oliver-Lindey (Ian), South Hill, VA and Shannon Oliver-Jarrell (Santee, IV) of Rich Square, NC and Chambers' daughter, Shalisa Logan of Kenbridge, VA. Additional family members are Shana's daughter, Tammoni Oliver; Shannon's daughter, Giovanni Oliver and son, Jashon Oliver; Shalisa's son, Winston Logan; a host of relatives and friends.

To honor his wishes there will not be a funeral, wake or viewing. Instead, a "Circle of Love Gathering" will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 1 pm to 3 pm 850 E 2nd St, Chase City VA 23924. This will be a time for family and friends to fellowship. Light refreshments will be served.
