Mr. Joel Anthony Crutchfield of Danville, VA and formerly of South Boston, VA died Sunday, April 11th at his residence at the age of 49.

Mr. Crutchfield was born on January 5, 1972 in Halifax County, VA to Mr. Darnell Crutchfield and the late Ms. Brenda Sue Stovall. He was a former member of Mayo Grove Baptist Church and a current member of The Deliverance Tabernacle Church.

Joel is survived by (3) daughters: Jasmine Crutchfield and Jada Crutchfield, both of Danville, VA, Destinee Crutchfield of Charlotte, NC; (1) son: Joel T. Crutchfield of Lawton, OK; (3) grandchildren: Trevonte Crutchfield, Javonte Crutchfield and Zamonte Crutchfield; his father: Darnell Crutchfield of Yanceyville, NC; his fiancé: Sherita Carter of Danville, VA; (4) sisters: Angela Olubobola (Elijah) of Durham, NC, LaTonya Crutchfield of Mt. Vernon, NY, Keesia Watts and Tiffany Watts, both of Oxford, NC; (5) brothers: Kelly Crutchfield (Janice) of Roxboro, NC, Derek Crutchfield (Lakia) of Wilson, NC, Darcy Crutchfield of South Boston, VA, Daniel Norwood of Mt. Vernon, NY and Darren Watts (Erica) of Nelson, VA; his step-father: James “Pop” Walton (Jean) of Roxboro, NC; his godmother: Madeline Wilkerson of Durham, NC; (2) devoted aunts: Diana S. Edmonds and Eva Stovall, both of South Boston, VA; (2) devoted uncles: Giles Stovall and Curtis Crutchfield (Fay), both of South Boston, VA; (3) devoted friends: Arthur Lee “Big A” Scott, Apostle Carl Lykes and Bishop Larry Burrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his mother, Joel was preceded in death by his grandparents: Liena F. Crutchfield, Arlene J. Stovall, Willie Lee Stovall and Darnell Crutchfield, Sr.; (1) great grandmother: Mary Johnson; (3) aunts: Wanda Renee Stovall, Wendy Pulliam and Peggy Merritte; (1) uncle: Willie T. Stovall; and (3) cousins.

Funeral services for Mr. Joel Anthony Crutchfield will be held Tuesday, April 20TH at 1:00 p.m. with services at The Crawford House Chapel with Bishop Larry Burrell officiating. Burial will follow in Jeter Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Following COVID-19 guidelines, seating may be limited. A face mask and social distancing will be required.

Public viewing will be on Monday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax, VA.
