Mr. John M. Coleman, Sr. died on Saturday, November 13th at the age of 85.

Mr. Coleman was born February 25, 1936 in South Boston, VA to the late Willie Murphy Coleman and the late Marie Garrett Coleman and was married to the late Dorothy Ann Dixon-Coleman. He was a member of Spanish Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Coleman is survived by (2) daughters: Alice C. Chavis (Roland) of Portsmouth, VA and Karen C. Clark (Alfonza) of Crystal Hill, VA; (1) son: SFC (Retired) John M. Coleman, Jr. (Elke) of Killeen, TX; (1) step-daughter: Angela B. Jeffress (Rufus) of Scottsburg, VA; (11) grandchildren;( 10) great grandchildren;  (1) brother: SGT Major (Retired) Thomas H. Morton (Willie Mae) of Stewarts Draft, VA; half-brother: Kenneth Traynham of Halifax, VA; (3) sisters-in-law; (1) brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by (1) sister-in-law: Brenda King.

Graveside services for Mr. John M. Coleman, Sr. will be held on Thursday, November 18th at 1:00 p.m. at Spanish Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Womack, eulogist.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Wednesday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. Following COVID-19 guidelines, a face mask and social distancing will be required.
