Mr. John Henry Petty died Sunday, February 26th at the age of 79.

Mr. Petty was born in Halifax County, VA on June 3, 1943 to the late Alexander Petty, Sr. and Mae Susie Buster Petty.

Mr. Petty is survived by (1) daughter: Betty Petty Featherston (Bruce); (1) son: Darren Medley; (3) grandchildren; (3) sisters: Bernell P. Brown (James), Harriette Sue Petty and Martha Ann Mansui (Mariano) and a host of grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (1) son: Doug Traynham; (5) sister: Nannie Maude Smith, Parrie Leary, Emma Carter, Helen Petty, Henry and Lottie Mae Logan; and (5) brothers: Willie Petty, Alexander Petty, Jr., Hazel Petty, Robert Petty and Andrew Petty.

Funeral services for Mr. John Henry Petty will be Saturday, March 4th at 2:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Featherston as eulogist. Burial will follow in the Owens Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
