Mr. John Robert Quarles, Sr. of Halifax, VA died Sunday, March 14th at the age of 83.

Mr. Quarles was born in Halifax County on October 4, 1937 to the late John Jasper Quarles and Nannie Garrett Quarles and was married to Doris Moorman Quarles. He was a member of Browns Memorial Church of God in Christ and retired from Presto after 19 years of service.

Mr. Quarles is survived by his devoted wife: Doris Moorman Quarles; (3) daughters: Darlene Quarles McFadden (Mark) of Buffalo, NY, Carolyn Quarles Anderson of North Richland, TX, and Cynthia Quarles Chase of Dallas, TX; (2) sons: John Robert Quarles, Jr. (Alvinia) of Fairbanks, AK and Vincent Quarles (Auratha) of Stafford, VA; (12) grandchildren; (13) great grandchildren; (3) sisters; (2) brothers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Mr. John Robert Quarles, Sr. will be Saturday, March 20th at 11 a.m. at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax with Pastor William E. Mosby, Jr. officiating and Pastor John Quarles, Jr. eulogist. Burial will follow at the Browns Memorial Church of God in Christ Cemetery in Nathalie, Va.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from noon to 6 p.m. at The Crawford House Chapel. Following COVID -19 guidelines, a face mask and social distancing will be required.
