Obituary
Karen Denise Swann transitioned to her forever home on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. She was born April 8, 1972 in South Boston, VA to Mable Oliver Swann and the late George Swann, Sr.
Karen was educated in the Halifax County Public School system. She continued her education at Danville Community College where she pursued her nursing degree. She began her nursing career at Roxboro Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. Karen was a devoted and phenomenal nurse. Her love for helping others lead her to the position of Director of Nursing & Infection Control. With a desire and passion to do more in the nursing field, Karen, also, taught CNA classes at Piedmont Community College.
During her spare time, she loved to shop at her favorite store, Ross, watching TikTok videos, taking pictures with her loved ones, decorating her house for all seasons and holidays, and taking trips to the beach to sit on the balcony. Most importantly, she was a diva! No matter what the occasion, she was going to dress to impress from her head to her toes.
She leaves to cherish loving memories, one daughter, Chelsea Poole of the home; mother: Mable O. Swann; three siblings: Georgetta Swann (James) of Danville, VA, George Swann, Jr. (Mary) of Clarksville, VA and twin sister, Sharon Swann of the home; three aunts: Sylvia Williams (John), Rohelia McCain and Barbara Swann; a devoted nephew, Kier Lipscomb (Jaikey & Keylashia); a special friend, caregiver and Chelsea’s father, Chester Poole, Jr; godmother and caregiver, Shirley Harris; four special girlfriends: Shernita Dixon Powell, Shari Chism Medley, Ione Smith Bailey, and Lori Owens; two faithful stepdaughters: Sekietha Davis and Jasmine Tuck; three loving friends who were like brothers: Jermaine Hill, Roderick Windsor and Michael Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
