Mrs. Katie Elizabeth Johnson Duncan of South Boston, VA died on Wednesday, September 7th at the age of 100.

Mrs. Duncan was born April 10, 1922 in Halifax County, VA to the late Lee Johnson and Rosa Palmer Johnson. She was married to the late Butler Duncan and was a member of Greater Mayfield Apostolic Church.

Mrs. Duncan is survived by her children: Valerie E. Paniel of South Boston, VA, Brenda L. Irby (Orlando) of Richmond, VA, William L. Johnson, Sr. (Diane), Clarence Duncan (Olivia), Matthew Johnson (Mary), all of South Boston, VA, James Johnson (Adelaide) of Richmond, VA and Rev. Dr. Earl Johnson (Ophelia) of Raleigh, NC; (26) grandchildren; (38) great grandchildren; (39) great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by (2) sons: Melvin D. Duncan and George G. Johnson; (2) sisters: Mayland Johnson and Bessie J. Concepecion; and (4) brothers: Haywood Johnson, Sr., Willie L. Johnson, Ernest Johnson, and George Johnson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Duncan will be Wednesday, September 14th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Ferry St. South Boston with Rev. Dr. Earl Johnson, eulogist. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
