Mr. Lawrence Albert “Joe” Hubbard died Friday, August 12th at the age of 88.

Mr. Hubbard was born in Halifax County, VA on July 28, 1934 to the late George Whit Hubbard and Christana Hankins Hubbard. He was married to Amble Lee Williams Hubbard and was a member of New Vernon Baptist Church.

Mr. Hubbard is survived by his wife: Amble Lee Hubbard of the home; (6) children: Martha Woodall (William), Albert “Teddy” Hubbard, Randolph Boyd, Mary “Peedie” Hubbard, Zader Hubbard (Freddy), devoted daughter and caregiver, Helen “Gundo” Smith (Tony) and Shonna Hubbard, all of Halifax, VA; (15) grandchildren; (20) great grandchildren; ( 3 ) brothers: Robert Hubbard (Lynn), George Hubbard (Clarice) and Roy Hubbard; (1) sister: Martha Simmons (Otis) ; (3) sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (3) children: Earl “Red” Hill, Brenda Hubbard and Gary Hubbard; (1) grandson: Gregory Hill; and (1) brother: Matthew “Bully” Hubbard.

Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence Albert “Joe” Hubbard will be Saturday, August 20th at 11 a.m. at New Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. John Elliott, eulogist. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday, August 19th from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. A face mask is required at the service.
