Mr. Lester Alden Burns of Halifax, VA died on February 5th at the age of 88.

Mr. Burns was born in Halifax County, VA on September 20, 1933 to the late Paul Burns, Jr. and Cleavie Garrett Burns. He was married to Mrs. Gwendolyn Crowder Burns and was a truck driver for over 40 years.

Mr. Burns is survived by his wife: Gwendolyn Crowder Burns of the home; (1) daughter: Mildred Perry (Albert); (5) grandchildren: Eugene Lawson, Bianca McGriff, Brandi Lawson, Francesca McGriff and Marlo McGriff; (13) great grandchildren; (1) great great grandchild; (1) sister: Evelyn Cunningham (Joel); (1) brother: Henry Burns; (1) sister-in-law: Catherine Burns; and a host of nieces, nephews, including Anthony Burns, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters: Renae Burns and Aldina McGriff; grandson: Jayson Perry; great granddaughter: Victoria Drakeford; brothers: James Algie Burns, Elton Burns, Robert Burns, John Burns, and Paul Burns II; and sisters: Margaret Pollard, Katie Oliver, Pauline Edmonds and Hester White.

Graveside service for Mr. Lester Alden Burns will be Friday, February 11th at noon at the Burns Family Cemetery, Halifax, VA with Mrs. Mildred Perry, eulogist.

Public viewing for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service.
