Mrs. Martha Townes Martin died Wednesday, August 17th at the age of 94.

Mrs. Martin was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on May 2, 1928 to the late Doctor Townes and Milder Boyd Townes and was married to the late Learly Martin. She was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mrs. Martin is survived by (5) daughters: Eleanor Wade, Melissa Stamps (Nelson), Mattie Rogers, Nellie Lewis (Phillip) and Dinetta Blue (Clarence),all of South Boston, VA; (2) brothers: Sampson Townes (Mary) of Clarksville, VA and Moses Townes (Willie Mae) of Philadelphia, PA; (8) grandchildren; (13) great grandchildren; (5) great great grandchildren; (2) sisters-in-law: Bertha Townes and Peggy Townes; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by (4) brothers and (3) sisters.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Martha Townes Martin will be Sunday, August 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, South Boston, VA.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Saturday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
