Ms. Mary Alice Harris “Shug” of Vernon Hill, VA died Sunday, May 21st at the age of 71.

Ms. Harris was born in Halifax County, VA on February 15, 1952 to the late Ralph Harris and Anna Belle Hill Harris. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant C.M.E Church.

Ms. Harris is survived by (1) daughter: Katrina Harris Preston (Anthony) of Lexington, KY; (7) grandchildren; (10) great grandchildren; (2) aunts; (1) sister-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends including the school road crew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by (6) brothers: Ras Harris, Willie Harris, John Harris, Robert Harris, Leeroy Harris and Charlie Harris.

Funeral services for Ms. Mary Alice Harris will be on Saturday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m. at The Crawford House Chapel with Elder William Howerton as eulogist. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant C.M.E Church Cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
