Mrs. Mattie Mae Crews Quarles of Meadville Rd, Halifax, VA died Friday, April 29th at her residence at the age of 100.

Mrs. Quarles was born on January 12, 1922 in Halifax County, VA to the late Simon Crews and Rosa Henderson Crews. She was married to the late Joseph Quarles and was a member of Banister Hill C.M.E. Church.

Mrs. Quarles is survived by (1) daughter: Theresa Howard (Joseph) of Halifax, VA; (4) grandchildren: Coletta Howard, Sharonda Howard, Colanda Howard and Sherman Howard, all of Halifax, VA; (10) great grandchildren; (1) godson: Vernon Davis (Kathy) of Washington, D.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including devoted nephew, Alvin Guy (Sheila), devoted cousin, Francis P. Tucker and friends, Gale Wooten, D.J. and Tootie of Landover, MD. In addition to her parents and husband, Mattie was preceded in death by (1) son: Jerome Wilson; (1) sister: Merty Crews Powell; (2) brothers: William Crews and Samuel Crews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Mae Crews Quarles will be held Wednesday, May 4th at 11:00 a.m. with services at The Crawford House Chapel, Halifax, VA. Burial will follow in Banister Hill C.M.E. Church Cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be at The Crawford House Chapel on Tuesday from noon until 6:00 p.m.
