Ms. May Muriel Pointer of Alton, VA died Monday, June 7th at the age of 83.

Ms. Pointer was born in Halifax County, VA on July 27, 1937 to the late Joe Henry Stephens and Maxine Jeffries Stephens. She was married to the late Mr. Gathon Pointer and was a member of Greater Brandon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.  Ms. Pointer retired from Dan River Mills after 37 years of employment.

Ms. Pointer is survived by (2) daughters: Jean Price of Alton, VA and Brenda Harris of Sutherlin, VA; (1) son: Gregory Pointer (Carolyn) of Roxboro, NC; (9) grandchildren; (25) great grandchildren; (6) brothers: Henry Lee, Waverly, Charlie Wayne, Joe, Frederick and Roger; (2) sisters: Sheila and Dale; (2) favorite cousins:  Esther Mosley and Shirley Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,  other relatives and friends, including a special friend Vanessa Wood.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by (1) son: Louis Pointer; (1) grandchild: Willie J. Harris, Jr.; (1) great grandchild: Noree Edmonds; (2) brothers: Ezender Stephens (Yvonne) and Don Tutt  and (1) sister-in-law: Jean Jeffries.

Graveside services for Ms. May Muriel Pointer will be held Tuesday, June 15th at noon at Greater Brandon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Michael Galloway eulogist.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Monday from noon to 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
