Mr. Melvin Charles Bailey of Alton, VA died on Sunday, May 16th at the age of 50.

Mr. Bailey was born in Halifax County, VA on October 2, 1970 to Willie Yellock and Linda Mae Bailey and was married to Shalon Woodford Bailey.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife: Shalon W. Bailey; his children: Lavar Walton and Carlos Walton; (8) grandchildren; his mother: Linda Mae Bailey; (1) brother: James L. Harris; (1) uncle: Melvin L. Bailey, Sr. (Shirley); a devoted cousin: Bettie A. Barnett; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Melvin Charles Bailey will be held on Monday, May 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Jeffress funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Wilkerson, eulogist. Burial will follow in Dan River Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Sunday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. Following COVID -19 guidelines, a face mask and social distancing will be required.
