Mr. Michael Darnell “Mickie” Owens of South Boston, VA died on Friday, October 1st at the age of 75.

Mr. Owens was born July 29, 1946 in Halifax, VA to the late Mr. Irvin Owens and Ms. Virginia Wagstaff Owens. He was married to Mrs. Janet Simmons Owens and was a United States Air Force and Navy Veteran.

Mr. Owens is survived by his wife: Janet Owens of the home; (3) children: Angela Simmons, Benjamin Simmons (JoQuette), all of South Carolina, and LaQuetta Richardson (Edward) of North Carolina; (12) grandchildren; (8) great grandchildren; (1) sister: Kathy Owens of Connecticut, (5) sisters-in-law; (1) brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (1) son: Byron Owens; and (2) sisters: Noel Owens Morgan and Jackye Owens.

Funeral services for Mr. Michael Darnell Owens will be Friday, October 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home with Rev. Wallace Pierce, eulogist.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. Following Covid-19 guidelines a face mask and social distancing will be required. A limit of 50 people will be allowed at the service.
