Ms. Naomi Mitchell Carden of South Boston, VA died Sunday, January 9th at Sovah Health in Danville, VA at the age of 70.

Ms. Carden was born on December 30, 1951 in Halifax County, VA to the late Rev. George Mitchell, Sr. and Mrs. Bettie Green Mitchell. She was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church.

Ms. Carden is survived by (3) daughters: Amy Mitchell of La Plata, MD, Nora Carden of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Gloria Carden of Laurel, MD; (2) sons: Stephen Carden and Timothy Carden, both of Upper Marlboro, MD; (5) grandchildren; (4)  great grandchildren; (8) sisters: Martha Mitchell, Bettie Stanfield (Albert), Elizabeth Carter, Esther Michell, Lena Arrington, Mattie Muse (Donald) and Rebecca Carter (Joseph); (3) brothers: George W. Mitchell, Jr., Gordon D. Mitchell (Lula) and Moses Mitchell (Mary); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by (2) sisters: Geneva Mitchell Green and Carrie May Ford; and (1) brother: Vine Nathaniel Mitchell.

Funeral services for Ms. Naomi Mitchell Carden will be held Wednesday, January 19th at noon with services at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Public viewing will be at Jeffress Funeral Home on Tuesday from noon until 6:00 p.m.

A face mask and social distancing will be required at all viewings and services.
