Mr. Melvin Alexander Womack of Halifax, VA died on Saturday, August 24th at the age of 88.

 

Mr. Womack was born May 10, 1936 in Bronx, New York to the late Richard Womack and Martha Collier. He was married to Doris Ann Hart Womack and was a member of New Mount Olive Apostolic Church. Mr. Womack was a United States Army Veteran.

 

Mr. Womack is survived by his wife, Doris Ann Womack of the home, (2) daughters: Mary Ann McCain of Philadelphia, PA and Carletta Womack of Halifax, VA; (1) son, George McCain, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA; (9) grandchildren; (8) great grandchildren; (6) sisters-in-law; (1) brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins including the devoted , Robert Womack, William Womack and friends including Sterling Holt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (5) brothers: Richard Thomas Womack, Sr, Clarence J. Womack, Howard Womack, George Robert Womack and Franklin Womack; (2) sisters: Mildred Rodgers and Dorothy Irene Murray.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Melvin Alexander Womack will be Saturday, August 31st at 11:00 a.m. at New Mount Olive Apostolic Church with District Elder William Terry, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Post 99 and United States National Army Guard.

 

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
