Ms. Wilma Ella Barbour of Brooklyn, New York and formerly of Halifax County, VA died on September 16th at the age of 87.

 

Ms. Barbour was born October 29, 1936 in Halifax County, VA to the late Alberta and Luendia Barbour. She was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and joined Brownsville Community Baptist Church while in Brooklyn, NY.  She was a United States Army Veteran and retired from Bellevue Hospital after 22 years of service.

 

Ms. Barbour is survived by (3) sisters: Betty Barksdale of Binghamton, NY, Thelma Smith of Stafford, VA and Louise B. Carr of Bowie, MD; (1) sister in-law, Claudette Barbour, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by (1) brother, Jimmie Lee Barbour; and (1) sister, Alice Wicks.

 

Funeral services for Ms. Wilma Ella Barbour will be Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Thurman Betts, eulogist. Burial will follow in Barbour Family Cemetery.

 

Public viewing for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service.
