Mr. Henry Burns, Sr. of Hampton, VA and formerly of Halifax County, Va died on September 25th at the age of 83.

 

Mr. Burns was born February 20, 1941 in Halifax, VA to the late Paul Banks Burns, Jr. and Cleavie Garrett Burns. He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church, Hampton, VA.

 

Mr. Burns is survived by (1) son, Ronney Burns; (3) daughters: Cynthia D.  Waller, Diane Pollard and Sheila Burns-Butler; (16) grandchildren; host great grandchildren; (1) sister, Evelyn Cunningham (Joel); (2) sisters-in-law: Catherine Burns and Gwendolyn Burns; a host of nieces, including Brenda Oliver, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (1) son, Henry Burns, Jr; (1) grandson, LaMonte’ Pollard; (5) brothers: James Algie Burns, Elton Burns, Robert Burns, John Burns and Paul Burns, II; and (4) sisters: Margaret Poland, Katie Oliver, Pauline Edmonds and Hester White.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Henry Burns, Sr. will be Sunday, October 6th at 1:00 p.m. at The Crawford House Chapel with Rev. Tyler Edmonds, eulogist. Burial will follow in the Burns Family Cemetery.

 

Public viewing for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service.
