Rev. Matthew Richardson, III of South Boston, VA died on Friday, June 7th at the age of 45.

 

Rev. Richardson was born May 9, 1979 in South Boston, VA to the late Matthew Richardson, Jr. and Essie James Richardson, and was married to Vashunda Hairston Richardson. He faithfully served at Ebenezer Christian Methodist Church before becoming Pastor of Banister Hill C.M.E. Church. Rev. Richardson was Pastor of Wesley Chapel C.M.E. Church until his death.

 

Rev. Richardson is survived by his wife, Vashunda Hairston Richardson of the home; (1) son, Matthew Richardson, IV; (1) sister, Melinda Ponton; (2) nieces; (1) great nephew; (6) aunts; (1) uncle; his father and mother-in-law: Wayne and Hazel Hairston; (1) brother-in-law; and a host of other relatives, and friends including, The Wesley Chapel C.M.E. Church family.

 

Funeral services for Rev. Matthew Richardson, III will be Saturday, June 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with Bishop James B. Walker, eulogist. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

 

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
