Mrs. Lucy White Dixon of Vernon Hill, VA died on Tuesday, December 17th at the age of 100.

 

Mrs. Dixon was born in Halifax County, VA on March 5, 1924 to the late Tee Comp White and Mattie Sue Melissa Oulds White. She was married to the late Deacon James Henry Dixon and was a member of Traynham Grove Baptist Church.

 

Mrs. Dixon is survived by (2) daughters: Pat of Scottsburg, VA and Carolyn of the home; (2) sons: Jimmy (Linda) of Vernon Hill, VA and William (Robin) of Roanoke, VA; (1) bonus son, Henry (Jack) White; (6) grandchildren; (8) great grandchildren; (4) great great grandchildren; (1) sister, Louise Jackson of Brooklyn, NY; (3) spiritual daughters; and a host of nieces, including  devoted niece, Paulette Jackson Chappell, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by (1) grandson, Gregory Dixon; (3) sisters: Gracie, Mary and Pauline; (2) brothers: Louis and Thomas; and son-in-law: Deacon Mike Powell.

 

Funeral services for Mrs.  Lucy White Dixon will be held Monday, December 23rd at 2:30 p.m. with services at Traynham Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. William Keen, eulogist. Burial will follow in Blue Rock Apostolic Church Cemetery, Vernon Hill, VA.

 

Public viewing for family and friends will be Sunday, December 22nd, from noon until 6:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
