Mr. Willie Raleigh Howerton of Halifax, VA died on Wednesday May 1st at the age of 86.

Mr. Howerton was born July 5, 1937 in Halifax County, VA to the late James Howerton and Bertha Jones Howerton and was married to Gloria E. Anderson. He was a member of Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was employed at Halifax Pharmacy for 20 years.

Mr. Howerton is survived his wife, Gloria E. Howerton of the home; (4) children: Kenneth ( Henrietta) of Largo, MD, Sherry of Landover, MD, Duane of Fayetteville, NC and Willetha (Kevin) of Glen Burnie, MD; (6) grandchildren; (14) great grandchildren; (1) brother, Harry (Frances) of Laurel, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (2) grandchildren: Jermaine and Dunee.

Funeral services for Mr. Willie Raleigh Howerton will be Saturday, May 11th at 11 a.m. at Mountain Grove Baptist Church with Elder Christoper Pritchett, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

​

Public viewing will be Friday from noon until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
