Ms. Doris Doretha Chism of Halifax, VA died Sunday, May 19th at the age of 65.

Ms. Chism was born in Halifax County, VA on June 9, 1958 to the late Nannie Stokes Wyatt and Willie Lee Bailey. She was the founder of Pathways Youth Services, Pathways Day School and co-founder of Swann Haven. She was a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church.

 

Ms. Chism is survived by (1) daughter, Shari Medley (Diante) of Halifax, VA; (3) grandchildren: Jaylin Ager, Jordan Ager and Isaiah Childress all of Halifax, Va; (3) sisters: Delois Harris of Raleigh, NC, Dinita Faulkner of South Boston, VA and Pamela Wyatt (Horace) of Scottsburg, VA; (2) brothers: Clarence Bailey of South Boston, VA and Douglas Wyatt (Rhodesia) of Bowie, MD;  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including, Lena Barnett and Loretta Epperson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Ella Mae Wyatt, William Lee Wyatt, Nancy Lee Morris, George Bailey and Thomas Bailey.

Funeral services for Ms. Doris Doretha Chism will be Friday, May 24th at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Bowman, eulogist. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from noon until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral home.
