Mr. James Ballou, Jr. of New York and formerly of Halifax County died on Friday, July 21st at the age of 81.

Mr. Ballou was born in Halifax County, VA on April 15, 1942 to the late James Ballou and Anna Chandler Ballou and was married to Gloria Dawson Ballou. At an early age he and joined the Berry Hill Baptist Church.

Mr. Ballou is survived by his wife, Gloria Dawson Ballou; (2) sons: Ronald Sydnor and Charles Sydnor; (4) daughters: Barbara Ferrell (Charles), Priscilla Breedlove (Larry), Cheryl Terry and Karen Morgan; (1) stepdaughter, Crystal Robinson; (3) step-grandchildren; (10) grandchildren; (22) great-grandchildren; (3) sisters: Catherine Morgan, Jean Oliphant (Alphonso) and Freda Bennett (Thomas); (2) brothers: Edward Ballou (Loretta) and Lloyd Ballou (Cindy); (4) sisters-in-law and (3) brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (1) sister; Ruth Ballou; (2) brothers: Larry Ballou and Willie Ballou; and (1) stepdaughter: Takiya Johnson.

Funeral services for Mr. James Ballou, Jr. will be Saturday, July 29th at 11 a.m. at The Crawford House Chapel, Halifax, VA. Burial will follow at Berry Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from noon to 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
