Mrs. Rachel Edmonds of Halifax, VA died Monday, February 27th at the age of 99.

Mrs. Edmonds was born in Halifax County, VA on November 3, 1923 to the late Fulton Powell and Gertrude Anderson Powell. She was first married to the late Raleigh Womack and later married the late William Edmonds. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.

Mrs. Edmonds is survived by (3) grandchildren: Tiffany Davis of Richmond, VA, Rondii Womack of New York and Chauncey Womack of Washington, DC; (3) great grandchildren; (2) sisters: Maple Palmer, who was a caregiver, and Jannie Walker, both of Halifax, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including a special niece and nephew: Joyce Palmer and Terrence Palmer, who were also care givers. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by (2) daughters: Ann Marie Womack and Rosa Pearl Davis; (1) grandson: Corey; (4) brothers and (6) sisters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Edmonds will be Monday, March 6th at 11:00 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Willie N. Yancey, eulogist.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
