Elder Rickey Bernard Surgeon of Danville, VA died on Friday, September 16th at the age of 56.

Elder Surgeon was born June 19, 1966 in Greensboro, NC to the late Rev. Dr. Herbert Surgeon, Sr. and Valoyce Woods Surgeon. He was a member of Bibleway Cathedral Church, Danville, VA, a minister of music and ordained preacher of the gospel.

Elder Surgeon is survived by (3) sisters: Stephanie Winslow Poole (Richard) of Mebane, NC, Kolosa Surgeon Johnson (Gerald) of Sutherlin, VA, and Ernestine Surgeon of Greensboro, NC; (2) brothers: Herbert R. Surgeon, Jr. (Bonnie) of Greensboro, NC and James E. Surgeon of Danville, VA; (5) aunts; (2) nephews; (7) nieces; (7) great nieces; and a host of other relatives, and friends; and his long-time sister friend: Blanche J. Laws (Jason) of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral services for Elder Rickey Bernard Surgeon will be Friday, September 23rd at 12:00 p.m. at Bibleway Cathedral Church, Danville, VA with Rev. Dr. Darran T. Brandon, Sr., eulogist. Burial will follow in Allen’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Prospect Hill, NC.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday one hour prior to the service.
