Mrs. Rosa Belle Penick Ballou of South Boston, VA died Wednesday May 26th at her residence at the age of 96.

Mrs. Ballou was born in Halifax County on March 8, 1925 to the late Johnnie Penick and Lucinda Penick. She was married to the late James Ballou, Sr. and was a member of New Arbor Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ballou is survived by (1) daughter: Gloria Majors of Charlotte, NC; (2) sons: James Ballou, Jr. and Gregory Ballou, both of South Boston, VA; (7) grandchildren: Joseph Majors, Jr., Demesha Ballou, Tony Ballou, Kayshawn Ballou, Deontae Ballou, Trevor Ballou and Gregory Newman; (13) great grandchildren; (2) sisters: Nancy Ballou of South Boston, VA and Lucinda Edmunds of Ringgold, VA; (2) sisters-in-law: Mary Penick and Wynonie Penick; (1) brother-in-law: William Ballou; her adopted family: Earl, Chantel, Chanette, and Cali McCain; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in dearth by (1) son: Stanley Ballou and (1) grandson: DeRonte Ballou.

Funeral service for Mrs. Rosa Belle Penick Ballou will be Wednesday, June 2nd at 11 a.m. at New Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Nelson Stamps officiating.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston, VA.
