Ms. Ruby Dianette Walker of South Boston, VA died Thursday, January 20th at her residence at the age of 72.

Ms. Walker was born in Halifax County, VA on December 15, 1949 to the late James Louis Barksdale and Aryldia Medley Barksdale. She joined Banister Hill Baptist Church and later attended Piney Grove Baptist Church until her health declined.

Ms. Walker is survived by (3) sons: Lawrence Walker, Jr. (Shiela) of Fayetteville, NC, Isreal Walker (Shenell) of South Boston, VA and George Lamont Walker of Halifax, VA; (10) grandchildren; (7) great grandchildren; (1) brother: Larry Jones of Halifax, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends including Deborah G. Coles. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by (1) daughter: Dianette Walker; (1) sister: Joyce “Jo Jo” Mills; (1) brother: Carol “Ricky” Barksdale and a devoted friend: James William “Baldy” Coles.

Funeral services for Ms. Ruby Dianette Walker will be held Wednesday, January 26th at 1:00 p. m. with services at The Crawford House Chapel, Halifax, VA with Rev. K. Anthony Jones, eulogist. Burial will follow in Banister Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public viewing will be at Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston, VA on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

A face mask and social distancing will be required at all viewings and services.
