Obituary 

Mrs. Sarah Lipscomb Jackson of North Carolina and formerly of Halifax County, VA died Thursday, April 21st at the age of 83.


Mrs. Jackson was born in Halifax County on April 17, 1939 to the late Junious and Florence Lipscomb. She was married to the late Robert S. Jackson and was a member of First Baptist Church of News Ferry. Sarah was employed at Daystrom Furniture Company for many years and later became owner and operator of a home-based business called Sarah’s Beauty.


Mrs. Jackson is survived by (1) daughter: Jacquette Passley (George) of Garner, NC; (1) son: Corey Jackson (Brandi) of Copperas Cove, TX; (7) grandchildren: LaQuetta Sanders, George Robert Newman Passley, Letizia Bailey, Jessica Jackson, Ebony Jackson, Jaiden Weaver and Damian Weaver; (8) great grandchildren; (1) sister: Alma Edmonds of South Boston, VA; (1) brother: Clarence Hensley of Alexandria, VA; (2) sisters-in-law: Jaqueline Jackson and Earnestine Lipscomb; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Terrie Murray. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by (1) son: Calvin Jackson; (2) brothers: Linzey Lipscomb and Earnest Lipscomb; (2) sisters: Elizabeth Jackson and Mary Battle; (6) brothers-in-law; and (3) sisters-in-law.


Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Lipscomb Jackson will be Saturday, April 30th at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of News Ferry with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Keene, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.


Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from noon until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
