Ms. Shirley Maria “Snooty Boo” Ballou of South Boston, VA died Wednesday, January 19th at her residence at the age of 63.

Ms. Ballou was born in Halifax County, VA on March 20, 1958 to the late Moses Ballou and Phoebe Chandler Ballou. She was a member of Berry Hill Baptist Church and an employee of Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital.

Ms. Ballou is survived by (5) children: LaToya Gooden (Deshawn) of Scottsburg, VA, Kursonn Ballou, Nunciata Brown and Tairakisha Ballou, all of South Boston, VA and Gela Netherutt (Charles) of Florence, SC; (16) grandchildren; (5) great grandchildren; (5) sisters: Phyllis Ballou (her devoted caregiver), Darlean Ballou, Anna Palmer (Kent), Mary Chandler and Gladys Harris, all of South Boston, VA; (3) brothers: Moses Ballou, Jr. and Alphonso Ballou, both of Gaithersburg, MD and Frederick Chandler, Jr. of South Boston, VA; (1) aunt: Mamie Cosby; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Shirley Maria “Snooty Boo” Ballou will be held Thursday, January 27th at 1:00 p. m. with services at The Crawford House Chapel, Halifax, VA with Rev. Gerald Jeffress officiating. Burial will follow in Berry Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public viewing will be at Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston, VA on Wednesday from noon until 6:00 p.m.

A face mask and social distancing will be required at all viewings and services.
