Tyrone Davis

Obituary


On Sunday, October 2, 2022, the Lord called home to rest our beloved son, father, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Tyrone Davis at the age of 50.


Tyrone was born in South Boston, Virginia on June 30, 1972 to Annie P. Davis.


Tyrone attended Halifax County High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1990. After high school, Tyrone continued his education and football career at Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, Virginia. In 1991, Tyrone continued his career at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia as a wide receiver where he currently holds the UVA record for most career touchdown catches (28). Tyrone was selected in the fourth-round of the 1995 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, and also played for the Green Bay Packers until his retirement. In 2012, Tyrone was inducted into the Halifax County-South Boston Sports Hall of Fame.


Tyrone was a member of the Union Grove C.M.E. Church and faithfully attended Sunday School and worship service until he moved away to pursue his career.


He leaves to cherish his mother, Annie P. Davis; four children whom he adored, Maiya Booker, Damien Davis, Jarrett Gomez, and Mariah Gomez; one brother, Jeff (Tynetta) Davis; one aunt, Donna (Ray) Moseley; five uncles, Harold Ragsdale, Moses M. Davis, Henry L. Davis, Harvey Davis and Melvin (Taundra) Davis; two great aunts, Clarise Hubbard and Gladys Edmonds; one niece Tyniqua Ferrell; two great nieces, Jada Ferrell, Miya Ferrell; 3 nephews, Mark Ferrell, Tyheem Ferrell and Noah Ferrell; one great nephew, Malachi Ferrell; and a host of many loving relatives and friends including his devoted companion, Lisa Booker. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Moses and Annie C. Davis; and two uncles, Charlie Davis and Ronald W. Davis.


Funeral services for Mr. Tyrone Davis will be Saturday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. at The Crawford House Chapel, Halifax, VA with Rev. Evon Bush, eulogist. Burial will follow in Union Grove C.M.E. Church cemetery.


Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from noon to 6 p.m. at The Crawford House Chapel.
