Mr. Vine Nathaniel Mitchell of Scottsburg, VA died Tuesday, November 9th at South Boston Health and Rehabilitation at the age of 81.

Mr. Mitchell was born on June 25, 1940 in Halifax County, VA to the late Rev. George W. Mitchell, Sr. and Bettie Green Mitchell. He was married to the late Beatrice Skipper Mitchell and was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by (2) daughters: Beatrice Mitchell of Boston, MA and Tia Mitchell of South Boston, VA; (2) step-daughters: Shawon “Boo” Coles of South Boston, VA and Dayla Dunn of Burlington, NC; (2) sons: Allen N. Mitchell and Marvin C. Mitchell, both of Boston, MA; (12) grandchildren; (8) sisters: Martha Mitchell and Esther Mitchell, both of Durham, NC, Bettie Stanfield (Albert) and Naomi Carden, both of South Boston, VA, Elizabeth Carter of Clover, VA, Lena Arrington of GA, Mattie Muse (Donald) of Halifax, VA and Rebecca Carter (Joseph) of Ft. Washington, MD; (3) brothers: George W. Mitchell, Jr. of Clover, VA, Gordon D. Mitchell (Lula) of Brookneal, VA and Moses Mitchell (Mary) of Randallstown, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Anna Pearl Edwards and Clarine Hill-Collins. In addition to his parents and wife, Vine was preceded in death by (1) son: Douglas Edward Mitchell; (2) sisters: Geneva Mitchell Green and Carrie May Ford.

Funeral services for Mr. Vine Nathaniel Mitchell will be held Monday, November 15th at 1:00 p.m. with services at The Crawford House Chapel, Halifax, VA with Rev. Morris Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Family Cemetery, Scottsburg, VA.

Public viewing will be one hour prior to the service. A face mask and social distancing will be required.
